JOB TITLE:  Prep Cook - September 23rd Hiring Event

 

GAMING LICENSE REQUIRED: Class III B
GRADE:      5/$12.465
STATUS:    Hourly
POSITION REPORTS TO:    Sous Chef


JOB SUMMARY:    Under the direction of the Sous Chef performs daily prep work, assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed, and provide cooks with needed items, assists Line Cooks as requested.

Responsibilities:

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Produce product on a daily basis maintaining quality standards and strong work ethic
  2. Performs prep work as assigned by the Sous Chef
  3. Weighs and measure ingredients
  4. Wash, peel and / or cut various foods to prepare for cooking or serving
  5. Provides Line Cooks with product as needed or requested
  6. Ensures proper presentation to provide maximum appeal and freshness
  7. Maintain production knowledge and attention to detail with taste and quality
  8. Produce product in a cost effective and hygienic manner
  9. Assist Line Cooks in a support role
  10. Properly label and date all products to ensure rotation, safekeeping and sanitation
  11. Work within the sanitation standards and in compliance of MIC, local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines
  12. Work with others to ensure the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen
  13. Inform supervisors when supplies are getting low or equipment is not working properly
  14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION: 

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Two (2) year certificate from an accredited culinary program or minimum 1-year experience in a commercial kitchen
  • Must maintain a valid WA State Health Card/Food Handlers permit
  • Experience with banquets preferred

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION: 

  • Working knowledge of recipes, weights and preparation techniques
  • General knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Skilled at handling kitchen utensils including but not limited to knives
  • Working knowledge of mathematics for recipes
  • Ability to work with others and multi-task
  • Ability to maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • General understanding of federal, state, and local food sanitation regulations
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift forty pounds (40lbs), occasionally higher with assistance
  • Manual and finger dexterity to use all kitchen equipment
  • Stamina to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to perform repetitious work
  • Mobility to bend and stoop frequently
  • Mobility to reach overhead to retrieve items

  • May need to  perform all duties in extreme temperature ranges
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Some essential functions of the job performed within a smoking environment.
