JOB TITLE:  Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B)

 

GAMING LICENSE REQUIRED:  Class III A
GRADE:  10 / $18.596
STATUS:  Hourly

POSITION REPORTS TO:  Security Shift Manager

 

JOB SUMMARY:  Provides emergency medical services to team members and guests with a high level of guest service; maintains supplies and equipment in a state of readiness; quickly assesses life-threatening emergencies and provides appropriate care.

Responsibilities

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    The statements describe the general nature and level of work only.  They are not an exhaustive list of all required responsibilities, duties, and skills.  Other duties may be added, or this description amended at any time.

  1. Responds to all medical assistance on Casino property.
  2. Assesses quickly all life threatening conditions, provide Basic Life Support.
  3. Conducts daily inventory and inspections of equipment.
  4. Provides basic health services for guests and team members until emergency response arrives.
  5. Provides assistance with CPR and First Aid training as directed.
  6. Maintains a written log of incidents involving guests or employee, and prepare additional detailed reports, as may be required.
  7. Assesses the injured or sick individuals’ need and if necessary, arranges for the dispatching of rescue units (Ambulance, helicopter, etc.)
  8. Adheres to health, fire, and safety regulations, identifies potential safety hazards and reports such to the appropriate personnel.
  9. Maintains a current awareness of facilities Disaster Plans and responds appropriately.
  10. Remains current and up to date with training concerning emergency medicine and basic life support techniques.
  11. May be asked to perform Security Officer duties, as necessary.
  12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS (required/preferred):

  • Must possess and maintain current CPR and Washington State Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) Certificate.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Washington State Drivers License.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING FOR POSITION (required/preferred):

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must have a minimum of 18 months current experience in an EMT role.

ONSITE TEST REQUIRED:  All tests are distributed in person at the Human Resources’ Office.  Deadline to take required test will be two (2) days after the closing date of position.

  • Must take a written report skills test. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS:

  • Applicants will be required to successfully pass a “physical exam” to determine if they are physically capable of performing the needed tasks of the position.

SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION:

  • Knowledge of emergency medical procedures, first aid, CPR and basic life support techniques.
  • Knowledge of security and risk policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment and maintain physical stamina, positive mental attitude while dealing effectively with guests, management, team members, and outside contacts while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a positive/upbeat fashion utilizing English; both in oral and written form.
  • Ability to provide clear verbal and written instructions, prepare reports, and documents necessary to perform tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate incidents, interview witnesses and draft legible, factual reports.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Problem solving and conflict management skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  The physical requirements described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. Bend from the waist, crouch, stretch, kneel, climb, twist and crawl without restrictions.
  • The employee must have the physical ability to access all areas of the property.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds (50 lbs.), able to push and /or pull two hundred pounds (200 lbs.).
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work may be performed indoors and / or outdoors with exposure to inclement weather.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Some essential functions of the job will be performed within a smoking environment.
  • Monitored by surveillance cameras.
  • Use of portable radio or cellular telephone to be in constant contact with department.
