POSITION REPORTS TO:   Security Shift Manager

JOB SUMMARY:  Performs protective and enforcement duties to ensure the safety of guests and team members and the security of property assets, responding to emergency conditions, such as fire, safety hazards, threats to life and/or property, etc.  Patrols the interior and perimeter of the casino to observe and identify potential safety and/or security risks and/or undesirable conditions.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:    The statements describe the general nature and level of work only.  They are not an exhaustive list of all required responsibilities, duties, and skills.  Other duties may be added, or this description amended at any time.

1. Observes and responds to emergencies, incidents, procedure violations, criminal, and other activities as they occur.
2. Documents and prepares accurate and complete written records and reports in response to incidents, procedure violations, or criminal activities as responded to, observed and/or witnessed.
3. Interacts with customers, vendors, suppliers, and employees to maintain a safe and friendly environment.
4. Safeguards property assets.
5. Responsible for proper handling of confidential information, reports, incidents, and materials.
6. Provides positive customer relations by assisting customers, vendors, suppliers, and employees as requested, needed, and required.
7. Required to complete various training programs, such as CPR, first aid, and defensive tactics, after hire.
8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS (required/preferred):

• Must have and maintain a valid Washington State Drivers License.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING FOR POSITION (required/preferred):

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Formal security or law enforcement training, schooling or certification required; related on the job experience may be considered in lieu of formal training.
• Previous security, military or civilian police officer training and/or experience required.
• A minimum of six (6) months experience as a Parking Lot Attendant for the Muckleshoot Casino will meet required security or law enforcement experience.

ON-SITE TEST REQUIRED:  All tests are distributed in person at the Human Resources Office.  Deadline to take required test will be two (2) days after the closing date of position.

• Written report skills test.

• Ability to learn, comprehend and follow detailed security manual procedures and instructions.
• Must have the ability to document incidents and write up reports in an accurate and legible manner.
• Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
• Physical ability to perform security officer duties.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Critical thinking, awareness, and problem solving ability are required in every aspect of your duties.
• Must portray an assertive, confident, and professional attitude when interacting with patrons and employees.
• Capable of enforcing rules and regulations with diplomacy and tact.
• Ability to maintain composure during stressful situations. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  The physical requirements described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this job.

• Regularly required to walk and work on feet to complete assigned shifts; talk and hear.
• Must be able to lift up to seventy-five pounds (75 lbs.), occasionally higher, with assistance.
• Neat, clean and professional appearance required at all times.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work is performed inside and outside the property with exposure to inclement weather and unpredictable crisis situations.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Essential functions of the job will be performed within a smoking environment.
• Monitored by surveillance cameras.
• Use of portable radio or cellular telephone to be in constant contact with department.
