    JOB TITLE: Chief Engineer

    GAMING LICENSE REQUIRED: Class III A

    GRADE: 16 / 30.960

    STATUS: Hourly

    SYSTEM TITLE: Chief Engineer

    POSITION REPORTS TO: Sr. Facilities Manager

     

    JOB SUMMARY: Manage, supervise and coordinate the work of assigned shift placing particular emphasis on overseeing the quality of the technical maintenance of casino facility.

    Responsibilities

    MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Practice, support and promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Muckleshoot Casino.
    2. Ensure equipment, systems, building and grounds are ready for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules; restoring and repairing faulty or inoperative equipment and systems; recommending changes and new installations.
    3. Monitor facility systems and equipment, and make adjustments and repairs as necessary.
    4. Maintain advanced professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks.
    5. Maintain the continuity among shifts by documenting engineering actions; noting system or equipment irregularities requiring continued monitoring.
    6. Comply with required codes and standards by directing and monitoring the work of vendors and staff; inspecting systems and equipment.
    7. Implement changes to systems and equipment as approved.
    8. Plan internal remodeling, relocations and construction projects.
    9. Schedule and ensure completion of maintenance and documentation logs.
    10. Manage and/or assist in hiring, providing corrective action, and performance management for assigned staff,
    11. Contact vendors and/or contractors, arrange for major repairs, and coordinate scheduling with staff.
    12. Operate department software and computerized controls.
    13. Direct the performance of maintenance service requests insuring that work performed in these areas is accomplished efficiently with minimum amount of disruption and inconvenience.
    14. Provide coaching, feedback, training and guidance aimed at expanding the capabilities of the staff.
    15. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION (required / preferred):

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

    • Ten (10) years’ technical maintenance experience with documented successful work history demonstrating experience in commercial building maintenance and reading and interpreting schematics and blue prints required.
    • Six (6) years Asst. Chief Engineer or Maintenance Supervisor experience required.
    • Technical certificate in: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or equivalent number of years in related trade required.
    • Experience in commercial building maintenance, reading, and interpretation of schematics and blueprints required.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION:

    • Demonstrate advanced ability supervising, mentoring, coaching and training a diverse staff
    • Demonstrate advanced computer skills, utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and applicable department computer applications.
    • Demonstrate strong ability to read, analyze and interpret various reports and documents.
    • Strong organizational skills to function reasonably under time constraints, within established deadlines, and with attention to detail.
    • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of building system operations, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, A/V equipment, general maintenance and repairs.
    • Demonstrate ability to operate and maintain specialized equipment and tools, such as forklift, scissor-lift, and utility cart, utilized in the repair, and maintenance of casino property.
    • Demonstrate strong ability to troubleshoot and take appropriate action.
    • Demonstrate ability to install equipment, machines, wiring, cabling, or programs to meet specifications.
    • Demonstrate advanced ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment to determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed
    • Demonstrate ability to use a multi-meter.
    • Demonstrate advanced skill in using hand and power tools, including specialized tools and equipment such as vacuum and pumps, amp/volt/ohm meters, leak detectors and gauges.
    • Exhibit exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Read, write and speak English fluently.
    • Demonstrate ability to understand, follow and on occasion communicate oral and written directions.
    • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and leadership skills when interacting with various levels of personnel.
    • Demonstrate excellent time management skills, completing multiple tasks in often challenging conditions.
    • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of OSHA and Safety Compliance
    • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of MSDS and the chemicals used in the department.
    • Demonstrate ability to read and interpret schematics, shop drawings, sketches and blueprints.
    • Demonstrate advanced skill and knowledge in all aspects of building maintenance including; mechanical, plumbing, and electrical, carpentry, kitchen equipment and refrigeration.
    • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of critical systems: e.g. emergency generators, fire suppression systems and alarm systems.
    • Demonstrate strong ability to troubleshoot minor electrical controls and equipment.
    • Exhibit effective decision-making skills and efficient use of independent-judgment.
    • Demonstrate advanced listening skills.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Frequently required to stand or walk for extended periods of time; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, climb or crawl; talk or hear; push and pull.
    • Must be able to lift and/or move and/or push and pull at least fifty pounds (50 lbs.), occasionally higher, with or without assistance.
    • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
    • Some essential functions of the job performed within a smoking environment
    • Monitored by surveillance cameras
    • Use of portable radio or cellular telephone to be in constant contact with department
