    JOB TITLE: IT System Administrator I

     

    GAMING LICENSE REQUIRED:  Class III A
    GRADE:  16 / $30.960
    STATUS:  Hourly
    POSITION REPORTS TO:  IT System Administrator IV

     

    JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for performing highly complex technical and analytical work in the design, installation, documentation, support and maintenance of casino-wide applications and networks.  Also provides guidance to applications personnel in the use of systems software, linkage to application programs, servers, and networks.  Work is performed independently and reviewed through observation, conferences and results achieved.

    Responsibilities

    MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements describe the general nature and level of work only.  They are not an exhaustive list of all required responsibilities, duties, and skills.  Other duties may be added, or this description amended at any time.

    1. Practice, support and promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Muckleshoot Casino.
    2. Provides overall technical responsibility for network applications, with in-depth knowledge of a wide variety of communications hardware and software.
    3. Designs, installs, maintains, and documents infrastructure of servers.
    4. Administers the testing and analysis of all components of networked facilities to ensure the operation status of the servers systems.
    5. Responsible for and supports a variety of MIC applications.  Provides site design and client support.  May include messaging system and Microsoft operating and other related systems.
    6. Analyzes systems or applications testing and production problems; takes corrective action to reduce system failure; implements new system or application software and modifications efficiently.
    7. Tests new or modified software; analyzes test results.
    8. Maintains applications software and computer equipment; applies knowledge, as applicable, in making recommendations to management and/or users of new systems or modifications to existing systems.  Provides or assures that technical guidance and resources are available to team members when necessary.
    9. Researches, evaluates, and recommends changes in hardware, software, data communications, and techniques that contribute to more effective automated system capabilities.
    10. Develops and administers disaster recovery systems and procedures.
    11. Interacts and coordinates with users and vendors to foster a satisfying customer service relationship; proactively identifies technical issues/problems that could negatively impact business operations; develops and proposes a variety of solutions and options; assists users in selecting the most effective course of action.
    12. Obtains training on ongoing technical updates in industry as related to current and determined future technologies and systems.
    13. Create, maintain and facilitate a positive work environment.

    15. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS (required / preferred):

    • MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) 2003/2008 and/or MCITP Server Administrator required.
    • Exchange Server MCTS; SharePoint 2007 and/or 2010 MCTS; Threat Management Gateway 2010 MCTS preferred.

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION (required / preferred):

    • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
    • Associate Degree in Computer Science or related field required; four years relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirement.
    • Two (2) years of experience in Information Technologies as an acting System Administrator required, including experience researching and evaluating changes in hardware, software, and data communications and developing supporting documentation for systems and servers.
    • Experience with corporate level applications such as SharePoint 2007, Microsoft Operation Manager, Systems Management Server, Windows Server Update Services, ISA, IIS and SQL servers preferred.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION:

    • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
    • Expert Active Directory skills, specifically working with OUs, GPOs, server scripts and security.
    • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex server operating system problems using various tools and techniques.
    • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong end user support and training skills.
    • Strong written skills for documenting technical system and procedures. 
    • Effective interpersonal skills when interacting with various levels of personnel. 
    • Ability to verbally explain highly technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Must be able to work any shift.

    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
    • The employee is occasionally required to walk, crouch, bend at waist, reach with hands and arms, use hands to grasp, and have finger dexterity to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls.
    • The employee must occasionally lift equipment and/or move up to sixty pounds (60 lbs.), occasionally higher with assistance.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • Some essential functions of this job will be performed within a smoking environment.
    • Monitored by surveillance cameras.
    • Use of portable radio or cellular telephone to be in constant contact with department, during assigned shift.
