    JOB TITLE: Electrician (VGD)                                                                                                     


    GRADE: 17 / 37.74

    STATUS: Hourly, Nonexempt

    POSITION REPORTS TO: VGD Performance Manager

    JOB SUMMARY: The VGD Electrician troubleshoots and repairs electrical controls. Plans lay outs, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment for new electrical secondary service including panels, breakers, disconnect, and switches.



    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements describe the general nature and level of work only. They are not an exhaustive list of all required responsibilities, duties, and skills. Other duties may be added, or this description may be amended, at any time.

    1. Practice, support and promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Muckleshoot Casino.
    2. Check and replace faulty switches, sockets, and other simple elements of electrical systems such as lighting fixtures, tubes, and ballasts.
    3. Connect wiring to fixture and power equipment; splices wires as required.
    4. Inspect and test electrical lighting, signal, communication, and other electrical equipment.
    5. Isolate defect in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
    6. Measure, cut, thread, and install electrical conduit.
    7. Pulls wiring through conduit.
    8. Dismantle electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as brushes and armatures.
    9. Install and maintain various types of motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers.
    10. Install and monitor performances of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
    11. Install grounding leads.
    12. Interpret blueprint; work from sketches or verbal instructions.
    13. Lays out, assemble, install, test, repair, and adjust electrical fixtures, apparatus, equipment, wiring, and new services to include panels, breakers, and conduit.
    14. Mount motor, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and complete circuits according to diagram specifications.
    15. Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
    16. Troubleshoot and repair electric controls, motor control centers, and programmable logic controls.
    17. Smile and engage Guests and Team Members with a positive, professional demeanor.
    18. Create, maintain and facilitate a positive work environment.
    19. Perform other duties as assigned.


    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS (required/preferred):

    • Electrical license 07 or 06 required.
    • Electrical Journeyman License or Licensed Commercial Electrician required.
    • OSHA Certified to work on high voltage required.
    • A second Electrical License or a License in a Related Construction Trade may be considered.
    • Valid WA State Driver’s license, with clean driving record required.


    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
    • Minimum of five (5) years verifiable electrical experience at the journeyman level with documented work history required.
    • At least three (3) Electrical experience in commercial building maintenance required with operational knowledge and experience with emergency power generators required.


    • Demonstrate ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
    • Demonstrate ability to install and maintain motors, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers.
    • Exhibit advanced knowledge of electrical systems including planning additions or modifications on secondary circuits.
    • Demonstrate advanced skill using hand and power tools applicable to trade; and installation of grounding leads.
    • Demonstrate advanced skill in reading commercial electrical blueprints and apply NEC through the full range of commercial and industrial maintenance and construction work.
    • Demonstrate skill and knowledge of appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment and appliances.
    • Demonstrate ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers.
    • Demonstrate effective communication skills both written and verbal. Read, write and speak English fluently.


    PHYSICAL           The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by team member to successfully perform essential functions of this job. Shift work, holidays, weekends, or nights may be assigned.


    Regularly required to maneuver in all areas of casino, ascent/descent from stairs, frequent standing, walking, sitting, twisting, reaching, stooping, kneeling or crouching, and/or prolonged periods of time focusing on tasks. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. Regularly required to lift/ move, push or pull material or boxes necessary to the job function, with or without assistance, and/or climb or descend ladders, as needed.


    Regularly required to lift/move, one hundred (100) pounds of force (pulling, pushing, lifting, carrying, etc.) and reaching with

    hands and arms, use hands to grasp, and have finger dexterity to handle objects, tools, or controls. Exposure to both extreme Hot and Cold temperatures, equipment, and substances and regularly required to work in tight, high or confined spaces.

    Specific vision ability includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Visual acuity to discern and examine text, graphics, color and symmetry. Speech to communicate clearly, express ideas and convey information in an understandable manner. Ability to hear for listening comprehension and to understand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Manual dexterity to operate office or required equipment and examine or update documents, records, data, instructions, logs, and files.

    Ability to climb and work at heights. May have regular exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, hazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and electrical currents/cable/wires. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Must be able to bend, reach, squat push, pull and lift at least fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds regularly. Work in tight spaces and exposure to HOT equipment and substances or electrical lines, wiring, and related equipment. Must be able to reach with hands or arms, use hands to grasp and finger dexterity to handle objects, tools, controls, or equipment parts.


    MENTAL  Social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behavior. Critical thinking to use logic and reasoning, reach conclusions/solutions. Comprehension in assessing, analyzing, and processing alpha, numeric, and visual data and completing required tasks or documents accurately. Ability to tolerate stress and conduct tasks under critical deadlines. Ability to concentrate on task over a period of time without being distracted.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT  The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing functions of his/her job and in areas monitored by security or surveillance cameras. Work in casino operations and/or internal or external environments occasionally. Exposure to second hand smoke, moderate to high noise level, bright lights, fluctuating temperatures/weather conditions.
