    STATUS:  Hourly, Non-Exempt

    SYSTEM TITLE:  Counter / Barista

    POSITION REPORTS TO: Restaurant Supervisor


    JOB SUMMARY: The Counter/Barista is responsible for taking orders, presenting food and beverage to guests, and ensuring food and beverage quality and a positive guest experience.

    1. Practice, support and promote the Mission, Vision and Values of Muckleshoot Casino.
    2. Accurately take food and beverage orders.
    3. Prepare and maintain a counter, before, during and after patrons are served.
    4. Help guests select food and beverage items (i.e. explaining daily specials or answering preparation questions).         
    5. Operate espresso bar and makes espresso drink orders (where applicable).
    6. Follow standards for display cases; maintains, cleans and restocks as needed.
    7. Ensure guest satisfaction by delivery of food in an efficient and friendly manner, as deemed by outlet, may page guest for counter pick up, or deliver to table.
    8. Follow cash handling and cash register procedures.
    9. Reconciliation of daily “end of shift” financial transactions.
    10. Perform assigned daily and weekly cleaning tasks.
    11. Inform management of guest requests, inventory shortages, replenishment needs and food spoilage.
    12. Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products.
    13. Provide excellent guest service to ensure a positive guest experience.
    14. Create, maintain and facilitate a positive work environment.
    15. Smile and engage Guests and Team Members with a positive professional demeanor.
    16. Perform other duties as assigned.



    • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
    • Must maintain a valid WA State Health Card/Food Handlers Permit.
    • One (1) year counter serving experience preferred.
    • Barista experience preferred.
    • Cash handling experience preferred.
    • Entry level training may be provided for candidates who demonstrate passion for guest service; motivation to learn; and a professional demeanor.


    • Demonstrate a well-groomed presence and maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
    • Demonstrate ability to follow specific instructions. Read, write and speak English fluently.
    • Exhibit knowledge of all beverages, and the ability to make flavored and other specialty drinks with consistency.
    • Demonstrate ability to learn and use technical equipment (espresso machine).
    • Demonstrate ability to handle stress under pressure.
    • Demonstrate ability to provide quality guest service.
    • Demonstrate ability to accurately exchange money with the guests.
    • Demonstrate ability to reconcile all cash and money at the end of the day.
    • A Demonstrate ability and willingness to maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment.
    • A Demonstrate ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
    • Exhibit working knowledge of health & safety standards, and safety regulations as required.




    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform essential functions of this job. Shift work, holidays, weekends, or nights may be assigned.

    Ability to maneuver in all areas of casino, ascent/descent from stairs, frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling or crouching, and/or prolonged periods of time focusing on tasks. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. May regularly need to lift/ move, push or pull up material or boxes necessary to the job function, with or without assistance.                                                                       

    Specific vision ability includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Visual acuity to discern and examine text, graphics, color and symmetry. Speech to communicate clearly, express ideas and convey information in an understandable manner. Ability to hear for listening comprehension and to understand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Manual dexterity to operate office or required equipment and examine or update documents, records, data, instructions, logs, and files.




    Social perceptiveness to assess and understand other’s reactions and behavior. Critical thinking to use logic and reasoning, reach conclusions/solutions. Comprehension in assessing, analyzing, and processing alpha, numeric, and visual data and completing required tasks or documents accurately. Ability to tolerate stress and conduct tasks under critical deadlines. Ability to concentrate on task over a period of time without being distracted.




    The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing functions of his/her job and in areas monitored by security or surveillance cameras. Work in casino operations and/or internal or external environments occasionally. Exposure to second hand smoke, moderate to high noise level, bright lights, fluctuating temperatures/weather conditions.
